Import
Yokohama Trading Corporation is a leading importer of premium seafood products harvested in the Russian Far East. Through the strong network we have cultivated over decades, we supply a wide range of products to the Japanese market, including salmon, crab, shrimp, Alaska pollock, and fish roe.
Frozen sockeye salmon is one of our signature products. With a market share exceeding 30% of all frozen sockeye salmon imported from Russia to Japan, we proudly maintain the leading position in the industry.
As global demand for seafood continues to grow, driven by increasing health awareness, the popularity of Japanese cuisine, and evolving dietary preferences in emerging economies, Yokohama Trading remains committed to delivering high-quality seafood products to our customers with reliability and consistency.
Third‐country trade
Third-country trade refers to transactions in which products are traded directly between countries without passing through Japan.
Demand for high-quality seafood extends far beyond the Japanese market. Whenever opportunities arise in overseas markets, we actively develop new trade channels and business relationships. To support this, we continuously invest in building and strengthening our global network.
Yokohama Trading Corporation conducts a wide range of international trading activities, exporting Russian seafood products to markets across Asia, Europe, and North America, while also supplying seafood products from North and South America to Russia.
In recent years, seafood consumption has been increasing in emerging Asian economies, including China, as well as in European Russia, particularly in cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg. Growing awareness of the health and safety benefits of seafood has been a key driver of this trend, creating significant opportunities for further business expansion.
In addition to seafood products, we are also actively engaged in third-country trade involving industrial equipment and machinery.
Export
At the request of Russian fishing companies, Yokohama Trading Corporation exports a wide range of products essential to the fishing industry in the Russian Far East, including fishing nets, fishing gear, and machinery used in local seafood processing plants.
Our involvement extends beyond simply purchasing seafood harvested in Russia. From the production stage onward, we work closely with Russian producers, providing consultation and proposing equipment and tools that help improve the efficiency of fishing and processing operations. Once an agreement is reached, we also arrange the shipment of goods to their final destination.
In recent years, rising consumer purchasing power in Russia has led to growing demand not only for seafood products but also for a wide variety of Japanese goods. In response, Yokohama Trading continues to explore new opportunities to export high-quality Japanese products to the Russian market.
